A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. The subject of a sentence is a person or thing that performs the action of the verb. A subject pronoun is used as the subject of a sentence in place of a person’s or thing’s name or description, particularly after the subject has already been introduced to avoid repetition. Subject pronouns usually come before the main verb. These are the subject pronouns we use in English: IT (third singular person) is normally used when we refer to an object, thing, animal or idea (not people). When they are plural we use THEY (third plural person). Examples: The puppy is on the couch. It (the puppy) is so cute. / The puppies are on the couch. They (the puppies) are so cute. We use IT also when we talk about the time, weather or temperature. It is five o'clock (= the time is five o'clock) It is cold today. (= the weather is cold today.) It is 30º outside right now. I also have a writing at the foot of the bed that is screwed to the wall and to the right of the desk I have a closet built into the wall and in front of the writing I have a large size cabinet where I keep the books and more bye Jacob!
