POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS

A possessive pronoun replaces a possessive adjective + noun to avoid repeating information that is already clear. Examples:
-       This car is my car. / This car is mine. (Mine replaces my car.)
-     This computer is your computer, not her computer. / This computer is yours, not hers. (The second sentence sounds more natural. Yours replaces your computer and hers her computer to avoid repetition.)

Remember that with possessive pronouns there are no apostrophes (').
Examples:
• I didn't have my umbrella so Marta lent me hers.
(I didn't have my umbrella so Marta lent me her umbrella).
• Her car is faster than mine.
(Her car is faster than my car).
• That food is ours and not theirs.
(That food is our food and not their food).
• I know this drink is yours but I need to drink something.
(I know this drink is your drink but I need to drink something).

Use a possessive pronoun in the gap in each sentence based on the word(s) in parentheses.

2. I think we should go in ____. (The boy's car)
3. That house is ____. (Kathy)
