OBJECT PRONOUNS

While the subject of a sentence performs the action of the verb, objects are those affected by the action of the subject.
Object pronouns are used instead of nouns when we already know what the object is.  They make the sentences easier to read, understand and avoid repetition. We normally use object pronouns after a verb or a preposition. Subject pronouns usually come before the main verb, while object pronouns follow the main verb. Example: I (Subject pronoun) like (verb) cookies (object). Do you like them (object pronoun)? In this case, the object pronoun them substitutes the object noun cookies.

Be careful when you use 'it' as an object pronoun because only has meaning in the correct context. It needs to have already been mentioned or obvious to the listener what you are referring to. For example, if I say can you give me it please? The listener probably doesn’t know what I want. But if I say there is a pen on the table; can you give me it please? The listener already knows that I want the pen.
Examples:
1.      Robert asked me the address. (I)
2.      I have good news for you. (you)
3.      He gave her the ring. (Susan)
4.      Susan is in love of him. (Paul)
5.      I enjoyed listening to it last week. (the song)
6.      Robert will come to pick us up. (You and I)
7.      Jeremy is in debt with you. (You and your wife)
8.      We are waiting for them at the bus station. (Carol and Sarah)
9.      She ate them quickly and left for work. (the toasts)

Use an object pronoun as the object in each sentence based on the word(s) in parentheses.
1. Please give ____ the book. (Peter)
2. I bought ____ last week. (the car)
3. Angela visited ____ two months ago. (Mary)
